About Clare

Hello, I’m Clare, a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I provide a compassionate and understanding space where we can work together to help you find clarity, resilience, and hope. Whether you are navigating a sudden crisis or seeking professional guidance for long-standing difficulties, I am here to support you in a non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in a Person-Centred framework, but I take a proactive and structured approach by integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). We will create a personalised therapy plan tailored to your unique situation, ensuring that our work is specifically designed to meet your individual needs and goals.

I specialise in helping clients manage a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and low self-esteem. How I can help

I'll guide you in developing practical, evidence-based coping strategies using CBT and other techniques to effectively manage anxiety, stress, or low mood and regain control.

I will help you identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, helping you cultivate healthier perspectives and responses to life's challenges.

I'll help you acquire concrete tools and techniques, such as behavioural experiments and thought restructuring, to build lasting resilience and improve your overall well-being.

We will work together to explore the roots of your difficulties, constructing a personalised action plan to achieve measurable progress towards your specific therapeutic goals.

Background and experience

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. My professional path is unique; I transitioned into psychotherapy following a successful career in corporate communications and business ownership. This background gives me an authentic insight into the specific pressures of the modern workplace and how professional stress can impact every aspect of a person’s life.

In addition to my private practice, I have significant experience in clinical settings, including seven years working in palliative care within a hospice environment. This role has involved supporting patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families through their most challenging moments. This diverse experience allows me to work effectively with individuals from all backgrounds seeking resolution for life’s complexities.

I incorporate Family and Systemic Practice into my work, often beginning our journey with a systemic genogram. This visual map of your emotional and physical connections helps lay a solid foundation for our sessions. I also stay current with ongoing clinical supervision and CPD training to ensure I am providing the highest standard of evidence-based care.

Claire was amazing, I had tried counselling in the past and not got on with it at all. My experience with Claire was really positive and I highly recommend if you are thinking of getting support - thank you Claire

I started my sessions as a sceptic, but as we continued I began to find the sessions interesting and began to understand a bit more. Talking to Clare gave me a different perspective on things. Would I recommend her. Yes.

Excellent counselling. I felt safe and at ease and talked at length following the death of my wife. This definitely eased my grieving and aided my recovery.
