About Katrina

Hello, I’m Katrina, a Psychotherapist and Relational Counsellor with over three decades of experience. In my practice at CBT and Counselling Coulsdon, I offer a warm, non-judgemental, and creative environment where we can work together to address the emotional and psychological challenges you are facing. My approach is integrative, blending Humanistic and Integrative therapy with evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) methods.

I specialise in helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and body image concerns. By combining structured CBT techniques with a compassionate, relational style, I aim to help you gain greater self-understanding and emotional balance. Whether you are struggling with specific phobias, stress management, or disordered eating, our sessions provide a safe space to explore your feelings and rediscover your innate strengths.

I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process. We will work to identify the patterns that may be holding you back and develop practical tools to help you move forward with renewed clarity and motivation. I welcome individuals from all backgrounds, sexual orientations, and ethnicities, including neurodiverse individuals and those living with disabilities.

How I can help

I will provide a warm, structured, and non-judgmental space where we can collaboratively explore and address your mental health challenges using evidence-based approaches.

We will utilise Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) methods to cultivate the courage and motivation needed to shift unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours for lasting positive change.

I will guide you in identifying and implementing personalised, practical strategies that align with your unique values and goals, moving you towards a more fulfilling life.

We will work together to develop robust inner resources and effective coping mechanisms, leading to greater mental resilience and enhanced self-awareness.

I will help you navigate complex issues such as anxiety, phobias, and low mood by applying targeted, evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches.

We will focus on effectively resolving your symptoms and building sustainable mental well-being, empowering you to achieve a deeper sense of contentment and personal growth.

Together, we'll build your confidence in managing difficult emotions and situations.

Background and experience

My professional journey began in marketing and consumer insights before I transitioned into counselling in 1994. My early clinical work focused on supporting victims of crime and providing bereavement support within highly diverse communities. This experience deepened my understanding of trauma and the importance of providing culturally sensitive, accessible care to people from all walks of life.

Over the years, I have worked extensively with a wide range of issues, including childhood trauma, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties. I have also spent time counselling individuals with vision impairments and volunteering with anxiety charities. My practice is further enriched by my international experience living in France and my background in the creative arts, which allows me to bring a flexible and innovative perspective to the therapeutic process.

Katrina listens carefully and asks direct questions to get to the point. She is realistic about what she can achieve and offers advice and guidance accordingly. She is a little quirky but in a good way and I benefitted from her sessions and came away with some ideas and suggestions which I subsequently put into practice.
