About Denese

Hello, my name is Denese and I am an experienced therapist providing online therapy. My primary aim is to offer you a supportive and thoughtful space where you can explore your experiences, gain new perspectives, and make lasting, positive changes. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, or self-esteem issues, I meet you exactly where you are to understand your stressors and your aspirations for change.

At the start of our sessions, we will discuss what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve. If you aren't sure yet, that is perfectly fine; I will help you find clarity to fully understand what is troubling you. By using purposeful dialogue, I support you in seeking an understanding of problematic areas and help you clarify your thinking so you can find more helpful behaviours going forward.

While I work from a Person-Centred foundation, I am also a CBT practitioner and often draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. This integrative approach allows us to work in a structured way to identify the barriers to the change you seek. My goal is to support you as you face your challenges and help you move forward more positively.

Background and experience

I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling and I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). With over twenty-five years of experience, I have worked with individuals and couples from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. My practice is strictly informed by professional ethical standards and I engage in regular clinical supervision to ensure the highest quality of care.

In addition to my foundational training, I am a CBT practitioner, a qualified life coach and certified in Imago Relationship Therapy. My professional background includes extensive work with complex issues such as unresolved childhood emotions, recovery from toxic relationships, and anger management. I also have specialist experience in supporting neurodiverse clients, including those navigating life with autism, dyslexia, and dyspraxia.
